Back to the pool...
E and I ate at the club and enjoyed the sunshine while C was at a birthday party at the pool.
I picked Giada up to spend the afternoon with us! Norma joined in on some pool time too!
My surgery 6/11:
Several months ago I noticed a change in my implants and went to the surgeon, Dr. Nastala, that did my initial surgery. He shared that it looked like capsular contracture which is basically hardening of scar tissue surrounding the pocket that the implant sits in. I knew I wanted a second opinion and went to Dr. Elizabeth Harris a surgeon I had researched when looking into my surgery 10 years ago. I really liked her and since I no longer needed a dr. who specialized in reconstruction she was a great fit! After going in she found that my right implant had in fact ruptured. Knowing that made me feel better about my decision to move forward with surgery. I did go with a bigger implant which was needed to fill the pocket left after she removed 99% of the scar tissue. I am healing beautifully and am very happy while still being very proportionate. Dr. Harris, her staff and the surgical center (Santa Rosa by the Quarry) are really amazing!
The only pic I will share but the cutest I think!
Emma was invited to Ivy's 5th birthday party. They played with water balloons, ate some lunch, cake and enjoyed a piñata all to themselves!
My mom had a cough for years and after many dr.'s/tests she was finally referred to a surgeon for acid reflux. Although she didn't have the feeling of acid reflux like most (the burning sensation) she did have this cough that would come out of nowhere and would sometimes be to the point of throwing up. So she scheduled to have what is called a fundoplication which is some sort of wrap where the stomach/esophagus are to tighten/strengthen the sphincter muscle there. There is like a 99% success rate with this surgery which is great! Unfortunately her surgeon didn't share the things that she could possibly experience after the surgery. Her throat/esophagus was very swollen, she was extremely nauseated more often than not and was gagging/dry heaving. Her one night in the hospital turned into 3. Her surgeon came to see her once and washed his hands of her after that. He said his patients all go home the next day and attributed her experience to anxiety. What an insult. To say the least I was not happy and felt completely helpless. My mom's brother Eddie and his girl friend Elida were in to provide help. Of course they thought this was a one night thing. My dad was also just at a loss as to what to do. We just didn't expect such! The nursing staff provided no explanation until her last night. She had a nurse that finally provided an intelligent explanation and I think that was almost a turning point. Mentally, not with anxiety, she felt like she knew what was happening with her body after surgery. So the next morning I showed up with blow dryer and curling iron in hand to get her ready to leave the hospital. She was more than ready. While still very nauseated she was doing better and ready to go. We left about noon and I drove her home. She was so happy to be home and in her own bed! As I type this she is almost a week out from surgery and doing better every day. She can only have fluids and by now very "mushed up" food. The key is to stay hydrated and no coughing so far!!
Dominion Camp:
First camp of the summer is Dominion. Emma was a little hesitant about camp as we approached the summer but her friend Ivy, from Oak Hills, was going to join her so she was excited. She had a great week! The last day of camp each week the Mighty Muscles group has some sort of presentation/performance. Emma's week it was taekwondo. She won her ribbon for doing such a great job on the obstacle course.
Working on her taekwondo!
Stephanie sent me this pic that Coach Dan sent to her. Cash hits with his tongue out! HA!
Date Night:
Of course I didn't take a pic of the two of us on our date night for some reason but I did take a pic of the always yummy sushi at Uniko. We had dinner and then went to County Line to listen to this kid, Randal King, play. He was really good....great sound...great country sound. Nice to hear that these days when you typically only hear the Florida Georgia Line crap. I always use them as the example of the crap country music out today because they are the worst. After some good music and good people watching we headed to do a little birthday shopping for our soon to be 5 year old!! Great company, excellent food, good music and some fun shopping.
Saturday breakfast at the club:
Nothing really special about this morning outside of it was a beautiful morning and we had absolutely nothing to do...and these two cuties were loving on each other.
Playdate with Emma's friend Sadie:
Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins opened around the corner:
We finally got an ice cream shop and the icing on the cake, so to speak, we also got a Dunkin Donuts!! The kids were super excited and I won't lie...me too! We have gone twice in a week!
JW Marriott 7/1:
Cash had a basketball tournament in the afternoon and then we headed to the JW to listen to Ben, enjoy the weather (although SO hot) and I enjoyed the shrimp boil the JW was having!
JW Marriott w/ Norma and Caleb 7/5:
Fun with Kais at the pool:
Sibling fun:
Build-a-Bear...take 2:
Build-a-Bear had a huge promo where kids could get a "bear" at the price of their age. Well it seemed the turnout for this promo was bigger than the company anticipated. There was a massive line outside the store at La Cantera of which I was not going to stand in so I promised Emma we would go back on another day and get her a bear.
Emma wanted to see the new Hotel Transylvania 3 movie which Cash did not want to see so off we went...just the two of us. It was cute and she actually sat through the entire movie not asking to leave once.
We typically stay the night at the Hyatt but this time Ben is staying we came home...last year's king size bed was very conducive to our family of four! So with a king size this year and not wanting to board Hobbs for the night we decided to just go for the day, have lunch together, enjoy the pool and then let Ben relax before his show. This way he doesn't have to worry about waking us when he comes in and the kids are cozy in their beds! They did have some fun in the sun and Cash was super sweet to take E down the lazy river a couple of times!
Haircuts before school starts 8/4:
It was time for haircuts as we approach the first day of school. I wanted to avoid what will be a massive crowd doing the same thing so we did it a little earlier this year.
Brett Rea's birthday 8/4:
Brett and Tiffany Rea are friends that Ben met through performing at the JW and La Cantera. Brett was an Exec Chef at the JW (now at the Marriott downtown) and Tiffany is an event coord at La Cantera. Tiffany organized a birthday dinner for Brett at Mixtli.
I had never heard of the restaurant..or what I thought was a restaurant. This was private dining, in an old box car, and 11 courses served with pairings. The experience itself was great but the food even better! I was a little nervous that I wouldn't like anything or leave hungry...but I was SO wrong. The presentation was amazing and everything so tasty!
There were 12 of us and the company was just as great as the food. After dinner we headed to a bar around the corner. We didn't exactly fit in with the crowd at this particular bar so we headed to an oldie but a goodie...the Martini Bar! The guy that used to be there was no longer there but they had a great band! We were by far the youngest there but still had a blast and even snuck in a few dances!
Nike Basketball Camp 8/6:
This was Cash's first time doing Nike basketball camp. It was held this week at the George Gervin Fitness and Wellness Center. Nice gym and great coaches. Cash has had a great time and can't wait to do it again next summer!
Cash doing a little commentating.
These two have known each other since they were a year old!
The Oooh La La Spa 8/9:
Emma wanted to have a spa day with me so we picked up some masks, cut some cucumber, made our spa sign and put on our robes for what was a relaxing....few minutes. The mask wasn't exactly what we had envisioned but all in all a fun time.
Andy's birthday celebration 8/9 - 37:
Andy chose Pappadeaux's for his birthday celebration! We had good food, yummy dessert and great company! Happy birthday Andy!!

Library and park fun 8/7:
Before picking up Cash at camp I took Emma to the library and to the park. We hadn't been to the library all summer and she missed it. She LOVES checking out new books!
Dinner at The Rustic 8/7:
Ben wanted to go to The Rustic to hear a friend sing so the kids and I joined him for dinner first. Hadn't eaten there before...it was really tasty food but being served cold wasn't the best first impression. That said service was GREAT and the manager super nice/helpful! He brought us some very yummy dessert!
A day of errands with my girl 8/8:
Emma and I ran a ton of errands, went to the gym and grabbed lunch together...just captured a few precious pics!

Girls night...w/ the kids 8/13:
The girls and I decided to have a Monday evening dinner and headed to The Rustic. We (Ben, the kids and I) had just been there and while the food was tasty it was cold so not the best experience. This time was much better!
Tea party and play date at Ivy's 8/14:
Jade invited a few friends over from Oak Hills for a tea party/play date. There was real china and fun desserts! Emma was excited to see friends again from Oak Hills before the school year starts!
