My parents came over to eat and pass out candy for us while we were out trick'r'treating with the kids. We had a huge bowl of candy though to my surprise not as many trick'r'treaters as we thought we would have or at least it didn't seem as many as last year. The neighborhood had their annual get together in the culdesac. We didn't go this year and just decided to have dinner at home and then head out for the candy.
Emma still didn't quite know what was going on but she quickly figured it out when she saw the candy that was being given to her. We stopped at a neighbors house, the Belz, they were sitting outside with their candy bucket and while we were chatting with them Emma helped herself, several times, to the candy. She got tons of "oohs and ahhs" over her costume and though I am bias she did look SUPER cute.
Our "big bad wolf" was scary as ever and for the first time, at only 7 (almost 8) years old wanted to go with his friends trick'r'treating. I didn't really know how to handle that and felt a little out of sorts at the reality of him growing up very quickly. He went with Wyatt Belz and his brother Jake ....and a couple other boys from the neighborhood. Since the neighborhood isn't that big we weren't too worried but its still hard to let go of the reigns a little bit. He had a great time and got lots of candy....to share with me.:)
After the candy collecting was over Emma was crazy with an m&m sugar rush and we caught her analyzing her stash
About a week before Halloween we carved our pumpkin which turned out great!! We had a ton of pumpkin seeds which we intended to roast and time got away.
Alexa babysat for us about a week prior and did a great art project with the kids. They turned out really cute!
