Emma's 2nd birthday party - Minnie Mouse

There was no doubt that E's birthday party theme would be Minnie...so the planning began.  Minnie cake, Minnie and Mickey goody bags, Minnie decorations, Minnie outfit, Minnie bathing suit, and of course Minnie birthday gifts.

We had her party at the house again as its "easy" to do a pool party.  Although next year I am rethinking how easy it is and will be on the hunt for the perfect 3rd birthday party spot.  We made sure she knew the day was all about her and leading up to the big day we went over "how old are you going to be?".  She quickly picked up that she was turning the BIG 2 years old!

Andy came the day before to drop off the bounce house he borrowed for us and to say the least it was HEAVY!  Ben managed, somehow, to get it to the back yard so when Andy and Cheryl got here they were able to set it up pretty quickly.  Even Ben got in on the bounce house fun!

I tried to prepare everything, as much as possible, beforehand so there wouldn't be so much to do the day of.  With the help of Yvonne, the imagination Wonder Woman, it came together perfectly!  She came over early to help me set up...thank goodness!  I found these cute acrylic candy dishes and Yvonne had the great idea of putting white "garage sale price tags" on them so they were more Minnie like!  Turned out super cute!  I bought paper Minnie lanterns for decoration and of course they were missing the bows that actually made them Minnie so Yvonne to save the day!  She made bows out of construction paper and they turned out even cuter than they were before.  To say the least...not sure what I would do without her creativity!

Everyone arrived and the party began!  Miss E was having a great time!  She swam, played in the bounce house and ate some yummy birthday cake!  THE CAKE!  The cake that turned out so super cute and then turned out to be somewhat of a disaster as the we watched the icing melt away from the cake before we even got to sing happy birthday!  None the less it went in the tummies of all the kids that joined us to celebrate the 2nd birthday of the sweetest, smartest most beautiful and funny girl we know!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Emma girl!!

Cash - 2nd grade

It is hard to believe that Cash just finished the 2nd grade.  I don't know where the time goes.  I just know it goes by too fast!  He had an overall great year.  I still feel like the verdict is out on how we think the Dual Language program is working/not working.  Time will tell.  Moments of bad judgement reared their ugly head this year.  Cash let his temper get the best of him and it seemed like he struggled with that.  A combination of not knowing why it got the best of him and not being able to control his emotion.  Is that immaturity/maturity, growing pains, a combination of both?  I have no idea.  I never felt like I could express myself as he does when I was a child.  We are proud of Cash for allowing himself to show many emotions but look forward to the time when he comprehends when certain emotions are appropriate and that of course is maturity.  I know it will come....I have said several times this year that you are not suppose to say you want your children to grow up too fast but there are times that I look forward to Cash being more mature.

Cash's teacher this year was Miss. Analucia Martin.  She was so sweet and really care about Cash.  She was focused on his progress and behavior and communicating those with me.

First day of 2nd grade!

Emma loves her bubba!

This was learning from your grandparents day...what they could teach you...how things were different during their time.

Field trip....

I, along with Lisa Walker, was the room mom.  We planned the Christmas and Valentine's Day parties.

Cash's 2nd grade play for Christmas.

Miss. Martin - Valentine's Day party.

Bike rodeo

2nd grade had a recycling program.  Each student got to speak to their groups project...in Spanish!

Cash was Jackie Robinson this year for the 2nd grade Biography Walk...he read his lines in spanish without a note card...he did great!

Almost the last day of school...so we had some early fun at Thin Air!

Mother's Day 2015

So a little different Mother's Day this year as we typically go to brunch with my parents.  This year I was looking for something a little more simple.  We headed out to the SA animal shelters looking for our "family" dog.  Thinking, not sure why, that a rescue may be the way to go.  No such luck at the shelters so the search was still on...more to come on this in the blog post Mindy.

We did stop at what turned out to be a very popular Mother's Day restaurant choice....Hooters!  Yes...Hooters.  It sounded good that particular day and it was!

Later that afternoon I went for a much needed pedicure....a nice 45 minutes of relaxation and quiet!

Lunch in the park with Daddy

One of the many great things about being home with Emma is we are able to meet Ben for lunch.  Though it doesn't happen as often as we would like when it does its a great time to make memories!  This day in late April we decided to pick up lunch from my absolute favorite place in Boerne, Bumdoodlers, as I had to pick something up from Tapatio Springs that morning.  Then we headed to meet Ben at a park by his office.  Emma was able to play on the playground and we got to enjoy the beautiful spring day!
