Port A 2018 - after Harvey

Off to Port A we go for our annual beach trip.  Regardless of any other beach we may go to we always visit Port A at least once during the summer.  We typically stay at the Gulf Waters RV Resort and that was no different this year.  I booked a couple of months in advance as they were already filling up mainly because there are not a lot of places to stay in Port A.   Places like Port Royal, Seagull and Sand Piper have not reopened.  We jumped in the RV and headed to the beach!  I say jumped in...that is probably putting it lightly.  Its an endeavor to pack for any trip in the RV because you have to bring everything but the kitchen sink practically.  That said its fun and the kids love it!

We got there about 5:30pm, checked in, got set up, grilled out and headed to the pool for a late swim before turning in!

The next morning we got up, ate breakfast and headed to the beach.  We always get a golf cart so we have something to load our stuff on.  Its an easy ride over the board walk to the beach.  Hobbs doesn't do well in a beach town!  His skin whelps up and he loses an enormous amount of hair.  The mosquitos were horrific as usual and just attacked him every time we went outside!  He did ok at the beach for a bit it was just so hot!

This is such a beautiful picture!  Cash going out in the ocean makes me a nervous wreck as I am still deathly afraid of sharks.  It's their home and I prefer to not enter it.  Cash has seen Jaws 1, 2, 3 and 4 and still isn't afraid to go in the ocean!  I am scared enough for all 4 of us!

Speaking of sharks.  Emma was searching for sea shells and comes over to us to tell us that she found a baby shark tooth...yep that's what that is!

This is a moment to pause....could he be any cuter.  It's a reminder of what is to come for our handsome boy...young man.

Cash found this raft in town.  I was reluctant at first but they had a blast in it.

So it doesn't matter the situation...you put Emma in a golf cart and drive for any length of time she will go into a daze and eventually fall asleep!

I was able to take some pics of the devastation Harvey brought.  There are still many businesses closed, torn down, or that moved all together.

We ate dinner out at Trout Street Friday night.  They had just reopened in April after an 8 month renovation.  The food was very good!!!!

Emma going to sleep again while headed into town!

A little sand castle building.

I need to pull our pictures from years past and line them up.  This shark seems to have withstood many a hurricane!

We stopped in the candy store for some sweet treats!

Our last day at the beach and it was very crowded.  We arrived on a Thursday so I guess most got there late Friday and set up Saturday.

Some boys were using their skin boards to "surf" in the ankle deep water.  Cash got the hang of it pretty quick!  Random....there was one other boy at Leon Springs named Cash.  He was in 2nd grade while Cash was in 5th and he happened to be 2 families over from us at the beach.

Our last evening I did laundry and while E and I waited we had a dance party and she captured a few pics.  This was what she captured after asking me to give her a "fancy" face.

Lunch on the way out of Corpus...Luby's!  We needed fuel and Ben thought he didn't have the fuel tank key with him.  There was a slight moment of panic, a call to Good Sam and to a locksmith before realizing we did actually have the key with us.

The "I am ready to be home" pose?

I can't remember what I said to her but this was the face I got.

After getting back, unloading and dropping off the RV we headed to Boerne for dinner and then a little DQ!
