Gulf Shores RV Trip - middle of summer

We took our first long trip in the RV.  We chose Gulf Shores as we heard it was fun, pretty and they had a great luxury RV resort....Bella Terra.  We left in the evening on a Tuesday, drove for most of the night and got there Wednesday around noon/1pm.  The drive over all was very easy and thank goodness Ben can drive forever without getting sleepy...unlike me.  The kids slept and were ready to have some fun when we got there.  Normally it would be a 12 hour drive with stops but since we parked and Ben slept for a bit it was more like a 14 hour drive.  It was nice to be able to take our time.  It was also much cooler to drive at night vs during the day.

We took Hobbs with us and used a doggie daycare, which seemed to be a very popular thing to do, so he wasn't locked in his crate for long periods of time.  That allowed us to enjoy meals, the beach, etc.

Gulf Shores is a hot spot for vacationers as every restaurant had 2 hour waits so we didn't enjoy all of the restaurants we wanted to but there was no way we were waiting that long!  They didn't take reservations either so that made it even harder.  That said we did have some good seafood!  Especially on the way home!

The trip home was very long and I did start to get a little antsy.  I was ready to be home.  We just ran into so much unexpected traffic that it made for a long journey home.  We did stay in Lake Charles that Sunday so we could break the trip up a bit.  We stayed at Coushatta and let the kids play at the water park there the next day before we headed out.
