Emma - 21-24 mths

Emma is quickly approaching her 2nd birthday so I am trying to be consistent with capturing those complete sentences, new words and things that peak her interest.  I feel like the baby stage flew by but the toddler stage is sticking around a little bit longer it seems.  I say that because Cash spoke so clearly very early and no its not that I think Cash is smarter (as Ben would tease me), was such a big/tall boy and just an overall "older toddler" for lack of a better explanation.  Emma is on her own time...her own schedule.  Emma's vocabulary continues to increase and we love to hear her talk!  I say that now and I am sure we will regret those words as she hits 3 and 4 years old and never shuts up.

I have always said Cash was stubborn...and he is but he doesn't have anything on Emma!  We used to be able to trick Cash into eating his food.....his Nana and Papa would tell him "this is my bite" and Cash would say "no my bite" so we got him to finish his food that way.  You can't do that with E....there is no tricking her.  If she wants to eat she will and if she doesn't....forget it..you can't make her....do anything!:)

The kids have started swimming which blows my mind because the water is still way too cold for Ben and I.  Just goes to show how kids are resilient and can just focus on the fun.  Emma loves the water! She will get in any chance she can...princess dress, fully clothed, swimsuit or naked...she doesn't care!  I am hoping that she learns how to swim this summer.  She may be too young but you never know...her brother is a fish and she absolutely loves watching him swim all over the pool!  Inspiration?

Emma absolutely adores her Nana and her Papa!  There isn't a day that she doesn't ask about them or want to see them.  She hasn't had the time with them that Cash did and I worried about that but it hasn't seemed to make one difference.  Just like Cash she wants her Nana and only her Nana when they are together.  My mom is the stern one....the disciplinarian...where my dad is the softie so it always boggles my mind that they gravitate to her but they do.  I guess that is another "it goes to show" how kids long for boundaries....and they don't even realize it.
